Beacon Farms
This then is the message which we have heard of Him and declare unto you, That God is light and in Him is no darkness at all
1 John 1:5
Meet Sarah and Ian
Sarah
Sarah is a woman of faith, farm-girl and outdoorsman to the core. Sarah loves taking care of the animals (goats, chickens, dogs and cats). Sarah also loves the mornings. She likes waking up to the cool morning air and making a cup of tea to enjoy before going to work for the day. Sarah also likes learning anything to do with farming and heritage living. Some of her recent acquisitions include a 1914 wood/coal cookstove and a hand cranked coal forge. Sarah also loves spending time with Ian. That can include homeschooling, camping, going swimming, fishing or cheering hard at one of his baseball games.
Ian
Ian likes reading his Bible before bed and looking out for his mom. He also really likes playing baseball in the summer and making snow forts in the winter. Ian is a Christian like his mom Sarah and likes to go to church every week he can. He is also his moms right hand man with things around the farm. Ian likes helping his mom when kidding season comes (that's when all the baby goats are born). On nice days Ian will go and lay with the goats and have a nap.
Beacon Farms is a small goat farm nestled in the vast Canadian Prairies outside the small town of Daysland, Alberta. Beacon Farms officially started in 2020.
We currently have 39 breeding female Boer goats and two billies named Bobby and Bart. We also have a ossabaw island hog weanling, 5 speckled sussex chickens, Molly our guard dog and Rocky our herding dog. Let's not forget Bug Bug the housecat and Tater our farm cat in-training.
Beacon Farms seeks to be a place that promotes the peaceful, sustainable, rural, family-oriented heritage way of life in a setting where people can come, heal, thrive and where immigrant populations can learn about Canadian agriculture. Through the artisan products we sell as well as through our new initatives “The Lighthouse”, and our Mobile Farm Store & Confectionary, Beacon Farms seeks to build stronger community and undergird the food security of our communities and by extension our nation.
